Lena's Holiday

The Berlin wall falls, and in East Germany Lena packs her bags with no idea of the hamfisted cheesery that awaits her in Los Angeles. Everyone overacts their hearts out, to the point that it almost works as an absurdist comedy. Condoms are used as a recurring plot device throughout, which should give an indication of the general level of sophistication. Unfortunately, the language barrier gags wear thin, there are too many montages, and the initially intriguing thriller elements come up empty. It's better than the cover conveys, but not significantly.
