After starting out as a promising though uninspired secret agent thriller, Submerged loses momentum as fast as a plane crashing into the ocean. Then Coolio is killed off and with him all hope of rekindling any semblance of fun or excitement. Ultimately this is more of a group disaster survival film, bookended with a dash of international terrorism.
Coolio was the biggest draw, and delivers some entertainment despite having no skill as an actor. Nicole Eggert is relegated to a dull and uninspired role as the daughter of a senator. Perhaps the most competant performance comes from Tim Thomerson as a lead henchman, his scenes bring some relief to an otherwise dreary experience.
