Trancers is a sci-fi time-travel zombie film, a promising foundation! Tim Thomerson brings his strong-willed, firm-jawed presence to the lead role as a grizzled ex cop called in for one more mission: to go back to the 1980s and save the ancestors of some important people. Along the way, while inhabiting the body of his own ancestor, he falls in love with a young, spirited Helen Hunt. The film slows down a bit toward the end, but has good energy and fun effects and set design throughout. The story doesn't break a lot of new ground on its own, but the particulars of the universe and its unique brand of time travel are engaging and very much their own.
I look forward to working my way through the rest of the franchise.
